Between 1975 and 1985, the Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs at Wayne State University and AFSCME undertook a cooperative oral history project to gather and preserve the memories of key persons who witnessed or played a major role in the development of AFSCME. Abstract
Carrie Burton Overton served with the NAACP and in Democratic politics. She was also a Juilliard-trained musician and composer. She was interviewed in 1969 by history professor Philip Mason. Collection consists of interview recordings and transcript covering Overton's early life in Laramie, Wyoming, and her political and civil rights work, including her involvement with the NAACP and the "Colored Division" of the National Democratic Committee.

Abstract
Grace Hospital opened for patients in December, 1888 with seventy-five beds. It expanded rapidly over the next several decades, serving over 15,000 inpatients and 90,000 outpatients by its fiftieth year, 1938, and opening the Northwest Branch in 1942. Building additions in 1953 and 1964 made Grace the second largest voluntary non-profit hospital in Michigan.
