Abstract
United Farm Workers grew out of several farm workers organizations of the 1960s and was led by Cesar Chavez for over thirty years. The Administration Department records reflect the wide range of people and groups with whom the UFW corresponded. The work of the union itself is well represented, including U.S., Canada, and Europe boycott files, El Malcriado files, and negotiations with southern California grape growers.

Peter Velasco has served in a number of positions in the UFW. He worked as the Stockton, California Field Office Director, as the director of the Strike Defense Fund, was a board member of the Farm Workers Credit Union, and was a member of the National Executive Board member since 1973. Mr. Kircher went to work in a defense plant in Cincinnati in 1941 and helped organize UAW Local 647. Subsequently, he held a number of staff positions with the UAW until 1955, when he became assistant director of organization of the AFL-CIO. From 1956 to 1964, Mr. Kircher served as assistant director of Region IX of the AFL-CIO.
