Scope and Content

This collection of Anca’s work contains numerous poems, along with articles, essays, book reviews, and short stories. The span of this collection covers 44 years of her works, from 1967 to 2011. This collection is contained in three archival boxes. The first box contains poems (files 1-18) that were published between 1968 and 1998. Box 2 contains poems (files 1-14) published between 1998 and 2011, along with articles (files 15-19) published between 1980 and 2009, and essays (files 20-21) published between 1978 and 1981. Box 3 contains essays (files 1-13) published between 1981 and 2008. Box 3 also contains book reviews (file 14) published between 1998 and 2006, and short stories (file 15) which were published between 1967 and 1999.

Anca Vlasopolos was born in Bucharest, Romania in 1948 and emigrated to the United States when she was fourteen years old. She is an award winning author who has written short stories, a nonfiction novel, a memoir, and dozens of poems. After earning her degrees at Wayne State University and the University of Michigan, Anca became a distinguished professor in Wayne State University’s English Department and taught both English and Comparative Literature for 39 years. She now has the honored title of Professor Emerita.
