The collection focuses on the important social and political issues of the decade of the 1960s, primarily civil rights for minorities and, to a lesser extent, the anti-war movement. Included are materials from organizations active both locally and throughout the United States. The increasing political power of blacks is documented in the Detroit Federation of Teachers and the Black Panther Party.
The papers of Ms. Lampinen reflect her personal interest in a variety of social and political issues, particularly civil rights for minorities.

Arranged in 1 series - Series 1 (Box 1). Folders arranged alphabetically.
Acquisition
The papers of Lily Lampinen were placed in the Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs in July of 1977 by Ms. Lampinen.
Transfers
Two lapel buttons and an AFT delegate badge have been placed in the Archives Audiovisual Collection. Numerous copies of "Correspondence" and "Illustrated News," both black-oriented newspapers, as well as books and pamphlets on civil rights issues, received with this collection are available in the Archives Library.
