History
In 1948, at the age of 29, Garland Lane was elected a Democratic State Senator from Genesee County, Michigan During his years in teh SEnate and to the present time, Senator Lane has been an important member of the Appropriations Committee. From 1964-1967 Senator Lane was Chairman of the Committee.

The papers of Garland Lane were deposited with the Labor History Archives in August 1968 by Garland Lane.
Part II:
This installment of the Garland Lane Papers was deposited with the Archives in November 1969 by Senator Garland Lane.
Part III:
This portion of the Garland Lane papers was deposited with the Archives of Labor History and Urban AFfairs by Senator Garland Lane over the period of January to July of 1971.
