Abstract

Leo Ranco served as a shop steward and as a Trustee on the Executive Board of Teamsters Local 938 (Toronto, Ontario), and subsequently served in the dissident Teamsters faction, the Teamsters for a Democratic Union. Mr. Ranco’s papers relate to union elections and factionalism within Local 938.

History

Leo Ranco worked at the Direct Winters Company in Toronto, Ontario, and was a long-time member of Teamsters Local 938, Toronto, Canada. He served as a shop steward for a number of years and as a Trustee on the Executive Board of Local 938. He subsequently became active in the Teamsters for a Democratic Union (T.D.U.), a dissident faction in the Teamsters Union.

Acquisition

The papers of Leo Ranco were placed in the Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs in August of 1979 and October of 1979 by Ray Kuszelewski, and were opened for research in April of 1992.
