The files are primarily the records of the various meetings and special projects of ALPA. The majority of the material is almost exclusively related to the ALPA Board of Directors and Executive Board for the 1960s and early 1970s, and Executive Committee for the 1960s and 1970s of which Davis was a member. Additional material in the collection consists of public relations reports and plans for new headquarters. Also included are various reports on special projects. The record series contains materials collected by Mr. Davis, a United Airlines pilot, but generated by ALPA. The collection reflects exclusively files of the various officer meetings.

Series Description: Series I, Auxiliary Officer's Meetings, 1931-1972 Subseries A: Board of Directors, 1960-1970 Meeting agendas, minutes, and other materials relating to the annual conferences Subseries B: Executive Board, 1969-1971 Meeting agendas, minutes, and other materials relating to the monthly auxiliary conferences Subseries C: Executive Committee, 1964-1972 Meeting agendas, minutes, and other materials relating to the monthly auxiliary conferences

Series II, Financial Files, 1967-1971 Statements, reports, proposed budgets, and other materials related to Mr. Davis's work as treasurer.

Series III, Special Projects and Reports Subseries A: New Headquarter Site, 1962-1972 Appraisal report, site proposals, and committee meeting materials of the organzation's new headquarter plans Subseries B: Public Relations, 1961-1969 Materials in this series includes reports and proposals from various firms. Subseries C: Special Reports, 1966-1970 on numerious aspects of air travel as well as specific ALPA matters and projects.

Abstract

These papers primarily consist of various meetings and special projects of ALPA. Most of it is related to the ALPA Board of Directors and Executive Board for the 1960s and early 1970s. The material was collected by Mr. Davis, but generated by ALPA.

History

William C. Davis has been active in and associated with the Air Line Pilots Association, (affiliated with AFL-CIO) since 1960. He has served in several official areas; first serving as a Treasurer and later as Vice-President at Region V in the 1970s.

Arrangement

Arranged in 3 series – Series 1 (Boxes 1-11), Series 2 (Box 11), and Series 3 (Boxes 12-13). Folders are arranged alphabetically.

Series 1 and 3 are both further divided into 3 subseries.

Acquisition

The Davis C. William Collection was placed in the Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs in February of 1973 and opened for research in May of 1988.
