Scope and Contents
Series 1: General Office Files, 1945-1968
Minutes, reports, contracts and agreements, procedural manuals and handbooks, publications, and reference material relating to the routine office operation of the LEA.
Series 2: Organizational Files, 1958-1968 Correspondence, memoranda, reports, minutes, clippings, and miscellaneous printed material relating to the administration and to the Executive Branch of the LEA. Subseries A: Files of the administration, officers, Executive Board of Directors, and Executive Secretary. Subseries B: Files of the executive departments and their component committees.
Series 3: Alphabetical Files, 1955-1968 Subject files consisting of correspondence, notes, reports, minutes, proclamations, memoranda, and clippings.
Series 4: Publications of Educational Organizations, 1965-1968 Various newspapers and periodicals published by educational organizations throughout the country.
Series 5: Job Applications and Grievances Consists primarily of job applications for the position of Executive Secretary of the Livonia Education Assocication in 1962, 1963, 1966, and 1967. Also included are grievances and personal problems of teachers which were investigated or resolved by the Professional Problems Department of the LEA. Topics include disciplining of students, tenure, teaching assignments, and personal legal problems.

The Livonia Education Association was founded in 1945 as the Livonia Township Teachers Club. It serves as professional organization and bargaining agent for the teachers in the Livonia, Michigan School District.

Abstract
Livonia Education Association was founded in 1945. The collection contains information from 1945 to 1968. It contains information on two strikes that the association had in the 1960s as well as general office files and organization files. Grievances are may contain information relevant to the issues of the strikes.

Arranged in 5 series - Series 1 (Boxes 1-8), Series 2 (Boxes 9-18), Series 3 (Boxes 19-27), Series 4 (Boxes 28-29), and Series 5 (Box 30). Folders are arranged specific to each series as noted below.
Series 1: The materials are arranged alphabetically by subject or type of material. Series 2 Subseries A: The materials are arranged alphabetically. Series 2 Subseries B: The materials are arranged alphabetically by department, and by topic or committee within each department. Series 3: The materials are arranged alphabetically by topic; chronologically within each topic. Series 4: The materials are arranged alphabetically. The papers of the Livonia Education Association were deposited with the Labor History Archives in October 1968 by the Livonia Education Association.
