Wilbert Salmi, his brother Willard and his father Walter were members of the Toivala Local of the Workers Alliance of America, "a national, non-partisan organization of unemployed and relief workers."

The papers of Wilbert Salmi were deposited in the Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs in January of 1992 by Mr. Salmi through the good offices of James Lorence, Professor of History, University of Wisconsin, Marathon Center, Wausau, Wisconsin. The papers were opened for research in June of 1992.
