Abstract

Casper P. Kenny was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 1943 to 1948 and was active in CIO affairs. The items donated concern the Gabriel Retirement plan, the no-strike pledge, and interrogations by the House Un-American Activities Committee.

History

Casper P. Kenny was born in Tuscola County, Michigan in August, 1905. A member of Buick Local 599 in Flint, he was Plant Committee-man from 1937-40, 1942-43 and 1949-59. In 1941 he served as Vice President of the C.I.O. Council. During 1941-42 he was Recording Secretary of Local 599. He was a member of the Shop Committee in 1942-43. Mr. Kenny was elected to the State House of Representatives from 1944-46. He was a Field Representative for the Public Workers-C.I.O. (S.C.M.W.A.) from 1943-48.
