History

James Crowe was active in the organizing of Local 157, UAW, a tool and die local for western Detroit. He served as Recording Secretary of the National Tool and Die Organizing Committee in 1938 and was an Executive Member of the Board of Local 157.

James Crowe was active in the organizing of United Auto Workers Local 157, and served as Recording Secretary of the National Tool and Die Organizing Committee and on Local 157’s Executive Board. Mr. Crowe’s papers relate to his early work with Local 157.

Acquisition

The papers of James D. Crowe were placed in the Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs in June 1977 by Ethel Schwartz, member of UAW Local 157, and opened for research in July of 1982.
