History
Angelo Deitos worked as a skilled tradesman in Kelsey-Hayes's Romulus plant and was elected bargaining committeeman, executive board member, vice president and president of UAW Local 78 on an opposition slate in the 1960's and '70s. During his years in the plant he was active in a number of UAW rank-and-file dissident groups, including the Independent Skilled Trades Council and the Auto Workers Action Caucus, as well as the Michigan Committee for Trade Union Action and Democracy.

Angelo Deitos became president of the United Auto Workers Local 78 in the 1970s. His papers document the affairs of the local and the activities of labor union militants in the auto and other industries during that time.
