Collection consists of either recordings and/or transcripts of 14 interviews. Participants discuss their backgrounds, entry into politics or the labor movement (or both), significant accomplishments and events in Michigan and nationally, and recollections of other important labor and political figures, in particular those in the Michigan Democratic Party and within the UAW.

Some interviews span multiple tapes and some tapes contain multiple interviews. Tom Downs was interviewed twice, including an interview by Reuther Library staff that was added to the collection.
The following participants were interviewed: Irving “Irv” Bluestone (video, transcript); C. Peter Dougherty (audio, transcript); Tom Downs (interviewed twice: by Phil Mason and Mike Smith, January 11, 1988, and by Robert S. “Bob” LaBrant, August 21, 1995; 1988: audio, 1995: audio, video, transcript); Wilfird F. “Bill” Doyle (audio, transcript); George C. Edwards Jr. (transcript); Zolton Ferency (audio, transcript); Douglas “Doug” Fraser (video, transcript); Robert Griffin (interviewed by Dennis Cawthorne; video); Adelaide Hart and Neil Staebler (interviewed together; audio); Mildred Jeffrey (audio, video, transcript); Miles Lord (audio, video); and G. Mennen Williams (video).

Abstract
