Series Description: Series 1: Contains an assortment of subjects, directly related to the operations of Local 662. Chief among these are two notebooks; one kept by J.M. Courtney on minutes and one kept by Ross Drennon on Shop Agreements.
Series 2: Contains miscellaneous correspondence, pamphlets, transcripts, newspaper clippings, etc. which are related to Local 662 and the Anderson area. Series 3: Contains records and proceedings of UAW Auxilliary 203 which serves both Local 662 and 663 in the Anderson, Indiana area. It also contains a collection of material related to the UAW Region 3 Summer school held at Indiana University campus, August 1948.
Series 4: Contains a well organized and complete on of payroll check stubs from Robert F. Turner, for the years 1934 to 1950. Turner worked at Delco Remy.
Additionally there is an oversize scrapbook from Auxilliary 203.

History
UAW Local 662 serves the General Motors plant, Delco-Remy Division in Anderson, Indiana. Local 662 received its charter on May 16, 1939. With in a year of that date it supplanted the former UAW Local 146 of Anderson Indiana, which had originated in 1935 and had served both the Delco-Remy plant and the Guide lamp plant of Anderson. Local 146 had received its major growth impetus from the events surrounding the Anderson area sit down strikes of 1937 and the organizing efforts of Victor Reuther. Local 146 split into Locals 662 and 663 at the time of the Homer Martin factional controversy.

Abstract
United Auto Workers Local 662 was organized to service the General Motors plant, Delco-Remy Division in Anderson, IN, absorbing the former UAW Local 146. Records reflect activities, including a women's auxilliary, that occurred mainly following the local's 1939 charter.
