Abstract

Union of Professional Airmen was created in 1969 and was a small affiliate of ALPA. Subjects include agreements and correspondence from the following airlines: Air Florida, Altair Airlines, Aspen Airways, Florida Airlines, Royale Airlines and Shawnee Airlines.

History

Union of Professional Airmen was created in 1969 and was a small affiliate of ALPA. It represented commuter pilots and followed ALPA's purposes and objectives. Despite having limited resources and obstacles, it organized a few unrepresented pilot groups and negotiated initial bargaining agreements.

UPA eventually dissolved in December 1981 by mutual consent of the pilots involved who were then admitted into ALPA. The merge was complete by 1982.

Arrangement

Folders are arranged alphabetically and chronologically.

Acquisition

The records of UPA were placed in the Walter P. Reuther Library on August 24, 1984.
