History

The UAW Washington Office was created in January of 1943, and one of its divisions was concerned with the activity of the National Labor Relations Board. The UAW President's Reports indicate that by 1946 this function was absorbed by the Legal Division. When the Washington Office of the UAW was abolished in 1963, the Legal Department established its own office in Washington.

Arrangement

Arranged in 1 series – Series 1 (Boxes 1-16). Folders are arranged alphabetically by name of company, and the published agreements are at the end of the series.

Acquisition

The papers of the UAW Washington Office-Legal Division were placed in the Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs in October 1968 by the UAW.
