Abstract

Walter Dorosh served as president of United Auto Workers Local 600. His papers reflect his chairmanship of the UAW Convention Resolutions Committee and to a lesser degree, his work with the UAW Ford National Negotiations Committee, the UAW Skilled Trades Department, and the UAW Community Action Program.

History

Walter Dorosh joined the UAW in 1937 at Dodge Local 3. He later held various offices in the Tool and Die Unit of Ford Local 600, the largest local in the UAW. He became president of Local 600 in 1965 and held the office for ten years. He was a member of the UAW-Ford National Negotiating Committee from 1961 to 1976, and served as the Chairman of the UAW Convention Resolutions Committee from 1967 to 1974. Walter Dorosh has also served as Adminstrative Assistant to UAW president Leonard Woodcock, a UAW Skilled Trades Department Representative, Editor of UAW Local 600's Ford Facts, a delegate to UAW Conventions, and a member of the UAW - CAP Board.
