The papers in this collection cover the period 1942 through 1961, but are primarily concentrated in the period of 1953 through 1961, dealing with the labor negotiations and agreements for Aerojet General Corporation.

The papers include financial reports from 1942 through 1961; meeting notes; general and specific correspondence; materials on labor agreements; the subject of official apprenticeship programs at Aerojet with the International Association of Machinists (IAM) members; Grand Lodge election information; and labor dispute data. These take the form of clippings, flyers, correspondence, agreements, ballots, telegrams and reports.

Abstract

As Grand Lodge Representative of the International Association of Machinists (IAM), C. Z. Lindsey participated in IAM labor negotiations with Aerojet General Corporation. Mr. Lindsey’s papers reflect his involvement with the IAM and document the proceedings of the IAM/Aerojet negotiations.

History

C.Z. Lindsey was a Grand Lodge Representative of the International Association of Machinists (AFL) and was called out to California to participate in the labor negotiations with Aerojet General Corporation of Azusa, California. Aerojet was an important contractor in the aerospace industry, and as such the labor situation was vital in the growing American aerospace program.

Acquisition

The papers of C.Z.Lindsey were placed in the Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs in February of 1972 by Mr. Lindsey.
