Abstract

Birmingham Temple was founded by Rabbi Sherwin T. Wine and chartered in 1963. The temple's records reflect its activities and contain items relating to the Jewish community in metropolitan Detroit.

History

The Birmingham Temple was founded by Rabbi Sherwin T. Wine (1928-2007) and was chartered in 1963. It moved to become a humanistic Jewish congregation in the late 1960s. As of 2018, the Birmingham Temple is located in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Arrangement

Folders in Part 1 are arranged alphabetically. Issues of the newsletter, The Jewish Humanist, arranged chronologically, make up Part 2 of the collection.

Acquisition

This collection was donated by the Birmingham Temple in 2001, and made available in 2000. Issues of the temple newsletter, The Jewish Humanist, were received in 2018.
