History

The B.M.I.U. was a successor to the Bricklayers International Union of the United States of North America, founded in 1865. In 1910, the B.M.I.U. became interested in organizing plasterers and the union's title became the Bricklayers, Mason, and Plasterers International Union of America.

Acquisition

The papers of the Bricklayers and Masons' International Union of America (B.M.I.U.) were placed in the Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs in August of 1983 by Dennis E. Meissner, Senior Records Analyst, Division of Archives and Manuscripts, Minnesota Historical Society.
