United Auto Workers Local 27 was established in 1950 when Eaton Wilcox Rich moved from Windsor to London, Canada. The local's records document the operations and activities of its thirteen amalgamated units.

This local was established in 1950 when Eaton Wilcox Rich moved from Windsor to London, Canada. The local was originally organized as an amalgamated local with two units. It subsequently grew to thirteen units: Unit 1 - Eaton Wilcox and Rich - Certified Nov. 28, 1950, Unit 2 - General Motors Diesel - Certified Nov. 28, 1950, Unit 3 - Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing - Certified April 5, 1952, Unit 4 - Proto Tools - Certified April 14, 1953, Unit 5 - Kelvinator - Certified June 28, 1954, Unit 6 - Central Chev. Olds - Certified Oct. 11, 1956, Unit 7 - London Generator Service - Certified Oct. 27, 1959, Unit 8 - Fruehauf Trailer - Certified June 17, 1963, Unit 9 - Tecuseh Products - Certified Dec. 20, 1963, Unit 10 - Unifin - Certified May 17, 1967, Unit 11 - General Motors Products - Certified Feb. 8, 1968, Unit 12 - Northern Electric - Certified Feb. 8, 1968, Unit 13 - Bendix Westinghouse - Certified May 7, 1968.
