Series Description: Series I, Michigan United Labor Community Services School, (MULCSS), ninth annual meeting, May, 1974: Brochures, pamphlets, and, speeches relating to the agenda of the ninth annual meeting of the MULCSS.

Series II, UAW Local 22, Community Services Committee, 1962-1975: Brochures, correspondence, and other materials relating to the union's activities and services to its members in areas such as health, education, recreation, financial assistance, and unemployment.

Glenn R. Betts was a member of UAW Cadillac-Local 22 and served as chairman of its Community Services Committee. He also was a registrant at the Michigan United Labor Community Services ninth annual meeting, May 12-17, 1974 at Black Lake, Michigan. The papers reflect the various concerns and interests of Local 22s Community Services Committee and the agenda of the 1974 school at Black Lake. Entitled, "Citizens Seeking Answers," the 1974 conference dealt some major social problems and their impact upon union members.

A member of United Auto Workers Local 22, Glen Betts served as chairman of its Community Services Committee and attended the 1974 Michigan United Labor Community Services School (MULCSS) at Black Lake. Mr. Betts’ papers reflect the various concerns and interests of Local 22’s Community Service Committee and the social issues addressed at the Black Lake MULCSS, including substance abuse, unemployment, union services for the handicapped and the energy crisis.


Arranged in 2 series – Series 1 (Box 1), Series 2 (Box 1). Folders in series 1 are arranged alphabetically, and folders in series 2 are arranged chronologically.


The papers of Glenn R. Betts were placed in the Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs between May, 1974 and March, 1975 and were opened for research in February, 1983.


Some union periodicals and pamphlets on community services for union members received with this collection are available in the Archives Library. Several photographs relating to Local 22s blood donation campaign have been placed in the Archives Audiovisual Collection.
