Abstract

Judge Joseph B. Sullivan was a longtime Wayne County legal and civic leader, notable for his role as a founding member of Focus: HOPE. Early in his career he was executive secretary for Detroit mayor Jerome Cavanagh, with whom he became a close friend. He was interviewed by Reuther archivist Raymond Boryczka in 1991. Collection consists of the interview recordings and transcript, conducted in two parts in June and August of 1991, with Sullivan on the election and administration of Detroit mayor Jerome P. Cavanagh.

Changed collection name from "Joseph Sullivan Oral History" to "Joseph B. Sullivan Oral History" to disambiguate (there is also a Jospeh A. Sullivan, also a judge, who did not work with and for Cavanagh).
