From the Collection: The Gene Saari Collection contains correspondence, reports, grievance and contract negotiations files, newspaper clippings, publications and other documents related to labor organizing, collective bargaining and strikes in the Michigan copper industry, to jurisdictional disputes between Mine-Mill and the Steelworkers union, to economic and social conditions in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and to Mr. Saari’s campaigns for public office in the 1940s.
