Abstract Mr. Brown worked toward the development of the International Association of Machinists (IAM) in California. In 1936 he served as recording secretary of Lodge 1484 and business representative of the newly formed Lodge 1126. He helped organize and became president of the first California Conference of Machinists in 1938, and, by 1942, became a general vice-president of the IAM.
